Baby Delivered Inside Amniotic Sac Stun Doctors

A rare "en caul" birth, or when the infant is born inside the entire amniotic sac, happened to Baby Silas. Born prematurely at 26 weeks via Caesarian section at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, California to mother Chelsea Phillips, Baby Silas’ birth gives us an extraordinary glimpse at life before birth.

As you could see in the amazing slideshow of pictures in the video below, the amniotic sac was still fully intact that doctors said that Baby Silas was still getting oxygen through the placenta at that time.

It was a moment of awe that even the mother did not believe until she was shown pictures. According to her, it was "like a clear film where you could definitely make out his head and his hair. He was kind of in a fetal position and you could see like his arms and his legs curled up."

The doctors had since broken the sac and had gotten Baby Silas out of it safely.
