Meet John Carpenter, 31 years old (at the time of his appearance), the first man who won $1,000,000 on the famous US game show "Who Want To Be A Millionaire". He is from Hamden, Connecticut, married to Debbie Wong.

Carpenter reached the final question without using any of his lifelines. The million dollar question is: "Which of these U.S. Presidents appears on the television series Laugh-In?"

Carpenter used one of his lifelines, which is "Phone-A-Friend" and called his father to tell him that he is going to win a Million Dollars.
