Giant glass orb might revolutionize Solar Energy collection

Wikipedia describes renewable energy as:
Energy that is collected from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. Renewable energy often provides energy in four important areas: electricity generation, air and water heating/cooling, transportation, and rural (off-grid) energy services.

This is what German architect Andre Broessel aspired for when he created the Rawlemon, which is a spherical glass solar energy generator, in 2010. According to him, he got the idea when he saw his daughter playing with marbles and an eggcup wherein he "noticed how the focal point moved in the rounded surface."

Reports also said that "technology will combine spherical geometry principles with a dual axis tracking system, allowing twice the yield of a conventional solar panel in a much smaller surface area." It also has a modular collector system that charges and stores energy during daylight hours to be use when the sun is not around.
