Read the Jose Rizal manga comics for free
Made available online today, the manga features an adaptation of the life of the Philippines most famous hero Jose Rizal.

On its description it reads:
In the land now known as the Philippines, there was a time when colonial Spain ruled for more than 300 years. During a period when native Filipinos once called Indios were oppressed, exploited, and stripped of their human rights, Jose Rizal was born on the outskirts of Manila.
"What does it mean to be a Filipino?"
"Is it possible to incite change through knowledge and not violence?"He thought of those every day.
"A doctor, novelist, and a painter who can speak 15 languages, Jose Rizal is a legendary figure who brought about national revolution through one epic novel!"Written by Takahiro Matsui with art illustrations by Ryo Konno, the manga further immortalized Jose Rizal which for a long time has been honored in different countries including Japan through his statues.
Currently available with its first chapter, the manga opens with his execution in Bagumbayan, and ends with a young Rizal witnessing the arrest of his mother Teodora Alonzo.
According to Takuro Ando,TORICO's representative n an interview with CNN Philippines, Jose Rizal's manga was inspired by his curiosity on why Rizal had a statue in Tokyo’s Hibiya Park.
Rizal stayed in Japan for 45 days in 1888 and was said to have been charmed by the country's natural beauty and its people, prompting him to study its culture and traditions.
During his stay, Rizal fell in love with a Japanese woman named Seiko Usui.
Ando, described Rizal as a genius "who had changed his country not through violence but through his knowledge and hard work."
