Martin Nievera's rendition at Manny Pacquiao Fight

This version of Martin Nievera's Lupang Hinirang received negative feedbacks from the netizens and government officials. The Philippines Concert King started the anthem in a slow ballad, and then on the next verse the song became fast and he ended it with a high note just like a love song.

According to the Republic Act 8491, Sec. 37: "The rendition of the national anthem, whether played or sung, shall be in accordance with the musical arrangement and composition of Julian Felipe."
