Hunting the amazing Flying Fish

It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's a flying fish!

Ok, it's not really flying.

According to Wikipedia, a flying fish is the kind of fish that can make powerful, self-propelled leaps out of water into air, where their long, wing-like fins enable gliding flight for considerable distances above the water's surface. It sounds and looks really cool but this uncommon ability is a natural defense mechanism to evade predators.

However, when frigate birds join the hunt, then it's a different story. When flying birds are driven to the surface by underwater predators such as tuna, the frigate birds becomes their predator. These ocean hunters swoop in just before the flying fish can dive back into the water, swallowing these fishes whole.

The video is part of BBC One's episodic show titled "The Hunt", which shows its audience an "intimate and detailed look at the remarkable strategies employed by hunters to catch their prey and the hunted to escape."
