It was built to prevent the accidental loss of diversity in traditional genebanks. The Cable News Network (CNN) took us to take a peak on the Svalbard Global Seed Vault wherein Michael Koch from the Crop Trust, an international organization working to safeguard crop diversity, toured her inside. Although CNN's Arwa Damon and other popular news networks emphasized its possible utility in the event of a major regional or global catastrophe such as the doomsday, Koch explained that it will be more likely because of climate change that these seeds will be utilized as
agriculture is not adapting as fast currently as the climate is changing.

So there's no need for us to worry about doomsday just yet. And if it did happen, then rest assured the Svalbard Global Seed Vault will be there to regenerate our crops. After all, it contains thousands of seeds from all over the world!
